Managing controlled substances

Controlled substances have extensive licensing, registration, storage, security, research use, disposal, and inventory requirements because of their potential for abuse.

You must understand these requirements before possessing Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or Massachusetts Department of Public Health controlled substances.

Before working with controlled substances:

Use DEA Form 41 to destroy DEA controlled substances.
