Managing hazardous building materials

Asbestos operations and maintenance plans

Asbestos operations and maintenance (OM) plans establish training, safe work practices, and surveillance to safely maintain asbestos-containing materials.

These plans protect Harvard staff who may come into contact with or manage asbestos in Harvard buildings.

Asbestos OM plans do not apply to construction projects.

Lead-based paint

Building and operations management, including leasing offices, must:

  • Follow LBP tenant notification requirements.
  • Remove or cover LBP hazards under certain conditions.
